In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: As New. Like new paperback copy of a fine study. The catalogue produced to accompany an exhibition held at Tate Liverpool in 2001. This appears to be brand new unopened copy. This authoritative work documents the breadth of Milroy's career bringing together a range of her paintings from the 1980s and 90s and a body of new work. Illustrated with works from the retrospective exhibition being held at Tate Liverpool and other sources, the book is organized by subject rather than chronology and provides a visual catalogue that reveals recurrent themes and ideas. Milroy first received attention during the 1980s for her paintings of familiar and quite ordinary objects, often devoid of any specific context, which explored issues around space, repetition, pattern, rhythm, and order. Since the early 1990s, Milroy's subject matter has expanded to include landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, people and animals, revealing her continued interest in objects in relation to space. Original brochure, 27*21,5 cm. Zustand: Gut. Unpaginated [23 p.], 8 ill. Bumped, otherwise clean. - From the text by Ian Jeffrey: Lisa Milroy paints light-fittings, quite a lot of light-fittings. There might be around twenty different kinds of bulbs and strips arranged in that large painting, with, for instance, an opaque mushroom cropping up in three or four different places in a varied company of cones and tubes. It asks to be worked out, and appears to have proceeded to a plan, although appearances can be deceptive. If there is a scheme there it will probably never be reduced to a formula, but the fathoming itself is straightforward enough, for the units are restricted to a few appearances, which might be taken in at a glance or two. Search, note, and repeat the performance, and become conscious of the time it takes. What sort of time? A time of looking and naming: cone whirl, green domestic, silver-based, grey globe. Find the unit, and then remember it via both a look and a name. Anyone intrigued here for long will, inevitably, become conscious of procedure, of routine, of a pattern in consciousness, just as anyone in front of a Judd piece must become aware of movement in relation to perception. 202 pagina's, Hardcover, Nederlands/Engels, in goede staat, ill. in kleur / z/w., ISBN 9789077193266. 1620 g.

No Binding. Zustand: Very Good. Original exhibition poster of London artists' collective. 32 x 67 cm , in very good condition. Lisa Milroy (born 16 January 1959 in Vancouver, British Columbia)[1] is an Anglo-Canadian artist known for her still life paintings of everyday objects. In the 1980s Milroy s paintings featured ordinary objects depicted against an off-white background. Subsequently her imagery expanded, which led to a number of different series including landscapes, buildings and portraits.[1] As her approaches to still life diversified, so did her manner of painting, giving rise to a range of stylistic innovations. Throughout her practice, Milroy has been fascinated by the relation between stillness and movement, and the nature of making and looking at painting. ----- Zebedee Jones was born in London. He attended Camberwell College of Arts, Norwich University of the Arts and Chelsea School of Art and Design graduating in 1993. The following year Jones's paintings appeared in Unbound: possibilities in painting at the Hayward Gallery. His work is in several public collections including Tate, National Galleries of Scotland and the Arts Council of Great Britain Collection. Jones's work consists of monochrome abstracts, which have been described as adjacent to Neo-conceptual art or belonging to the Process Art tradition. However, above Jones is called one of a generation of artists who spearheaded a move away from conceptual, installation and video art in favour of a return to painting . His canvases are stretched over deep frames. The paint appears scraped on in layers, usually horizontal. The dragged surface of the canvas rather than being smooth has varying degrees of surface incident. Zebedee Jones lives and works in London. ------Michael Davis is a Los Angeles-based artist, working in the fields of drawings, sculptures, installation art and public art. He maintains a studio in San Pedro, California. He received a Masters in Fine Art from California State University, Fullerton, and he is a grant recipient from the National Endowment for the Arts, among others. His work is in museums, galleries across the United States. His significant body of public art is found in rail stations, public parks and civic buildings across the United States and in Japan. He is the co-author and subject of PROGRESS: In Search of the American Esthetic, an exhibition that features photographs, video projections, audio and ephemera documenting artists Michael Davis and Stephen Moore s cross-country trip by car from California to New York in 1970 and their subsequent trip traveling the same route in reversing, from New York to California.
