Slight cracking to gutters causing binding to be loose, however pages remain attached. Pages and photographs have light tanning and foxing throughout. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Spine is in good condition. Unclipped jacket has light edgewear with chips and creasing. Water staining to bottom edges.

This is one of the collectable 'Shell County Guides' series, edited by John Betjeman, and is devoted to Norfolk. Between them, the authors have visited every church and village in Norfolk, as well as the country houses. This Guide is a condensation of years of research, and covers all villages of attraction to tourist, church crawler and explorer of quiet by-roads. The book is bound in the original yellow cloth covered boards with red titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with light bumping to the spine ends and a faint shadow from the dustwrapper on the front board. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with light soiling and the spine is slightly browned. The top edge is rubbed with a tear of about 1/2" on the top front edge and the spine ends are bumped and nicked. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.

The wedding was held in the clubhouse of the apartment house complex where the boy lived at the moment. It was held there because the church as the religious entity it was, would not allow the wedding to take place on its hollowed grounds, because of the boy's past marital history.Religion had determined, it just could not sanction the union. The ceremony, however, was conducted by two ministers associated with the church. Strange indeed. The story of Debbie, as she is known, is told in another volume titled "I Ain't in Kansas No More', so it won't be retold here. Friend's of the couple, at the time of the marriage, declared strongly and often, that it would not last. Who knows? They may be correct. It has only been a little over thirty nine years now and its not over yet. Anything could happen.To quote Debbie, "I may not be the first or even the second but I hold the record." I as the author. and the second half of this union, am required by all good consciousness to state here and now my life has forever been the better because of Debbie. However, she most certainly has deserved more than she has received. She certainly got the short end of the stick. as the saying goes.That is when she married me, she deserved better than she got!
