The second edition of the work.With a frontispiece, 5 folding maps and 2 plates.Collated complete. This work autobiographical work was written by Lieutenant Colonel William Tomkinson. Tomkinson was a British Army officer who served during the Waterloo Campaign and the Peninsular War. This work was edited by his son James Tomkinson after his fathers passing, though the text remains near identical to the first edition, with only minor errors changed. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with fading to the spine resulting in loss to the gilt text, bumping to the extremities resulting in light rubbing and slight loss to the cloth to the top of the spine. Marking, the odd small damp stain to the boards and light discolouration to the rear board. A very slight lean. Light marks to the end papers. Internally pages tender with generally bright pages with slight age toning. Owners old ink inscription to the half title and generally clean pages with scattered spotting to the front and rear. Good. book.
