In den Warenkorbpaperback. Zustand: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good+ dj. Illustrated by Frank Lieberman (illustrator). First Edition. [nice-looking copy, slight fading to cloth along top edges, pencilled gift inscription from 1951 (in child's hand) on half-title page but otherwise unmarked; jacket shows minor wear at edges/corners, a couple of itsy-bitsy tears at top edge]. "Once there was a baron whose whole name was Baron Frederick Charles Henry Maximilian Francis Avoirdupois. But his name was not easy to remember, so everyone called him The Fat Baron -- and he certainly was fat. More than anything else in the world he liked to eat. Then along came Sir Reginald the Fierce, who saw The Fat Baron's plump cows and chickens, and attacked the castle. While Sir Reginald lived off the fat of The Fat Baron's land, the poor besieged Fat Baron grew thinner and thinner -- because there was nothing left in the castle to eat but a few weeds the cook boiled up for dinner.".
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good+. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good+. First Edition; First Printing. 4to 11" - 13" tall; 192 pages; Snug, clean and very neat in original color illustrated dust jacket. Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good+. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good- dj. Illustrated by (dj design) Frank Lieberman (illustrator). First Edition. [a good sound book with only minor wear to the extremities; the jacket is edgeworn, with several internally tape-repaired tears, slight fading to the spine, and some soiling to the rear panel]. The last of three novels published by this Texas-born author during her lifetime. (Another, "Swamp Angel," was published posthumously.) The title character in this whimsical satire "is a gentle person -- not an intellectual, not unconventional, but lonely all the same." He's a suburban dweller "with his wife, Amelia, his mother-in-law, and an extremely unattractive poodle." From this "particular combination of realities with which it would be callous to ask any man to come to grips," he seeks escape in his secret hobbies: "a collection of buttons, crossword puzzles, and the making of words out of words (Parakeet: pear, pare, reap, rape, take, rake, part, tear, park, prate, rate, peer, rapt)." "For Mr. Bremble, happily, the mind's alienation takes a sweet course. He sails through several impertinent and flamboyant interviews with a psychoanalyst to a gradually expanding, unfamiliar gaiety that culminates in a hilarity of behavior in which he abandons all compromise with the Reality Principle.".
