Patterned paper-covered boards (hardcover); top edge gilt, fore- and bottom edges untrimmed;…538pp. Spine toned; covers a bit dusty; a sound, Very Good copy, lacking the dustwrapper. Myers' first novel, set within a British aristocratic family and centering on their efforts to preserve their ancestral country seat. The Orissers is largely forgotten, but Myers would go on to write a trilogy that is still (if infrequently) read, The Root and The Flower. This copy inscribed to William Montagu-Pollock (1903-1993), noted British diplomat, Ambassador at various intervals to Syria, Peru, Switzerland, and Denmark. Signed.
