Fast and skilful sketch of a 17th-century (Southern Netherlandish?) tavern, with men and women smoking and drinking at a table outside and several men and women in the interior. Made by Belgian artist Leys. In the front one sees a man wearing women clothes. Drawing in pencil, partly coloured in watercolours and bodycolour, 265 x 282 mm. Signed 'HL' lower right. Slight browning and foxing, traces of folding in upper right corner, but otherwise in good condition. Another small preliminary sketch in pencil and watercolours on verso.
