According to the book's editor, the text was discovered in Russia and… brought to life by an American literary man living in Paris, presenting the story of a Russian serf girl, who is, in spite of the genre, a well devloped literary figure. The likely author is Val Lewton, the B-movie horror director. Original printed French wrappers. Covers slightly soiled, little tilt to the spine, otherwise a very good copy 7 full page plates, 252 pp. 1 vols. 4to.
