His book, which was also translated into German, contributed to the diffusion of knowledge relative to dental prophylaxis and therapeutics [.]" (Guerini, A History of Dentistry, 302-303). Dans son traité, Géraudly raconte notamment comment à l'âge de 35 ans, Louis XIV avait perdu toutes ses dents du haut ("Louis XIV Roy de France a vécu plus de quarante ans sans avoir des Dents à la Mâchoire supérieure"), conséquence d'une paralysie des fibres nerveuses y conduisant, suite d'une vie dissolue et intempérante ayant affaiblie tout l'organisme et le système nerveux. On trouvera également dans ce recueil la traduction de 2 ouvrages de Luigi Cornaro (Alvise Corner, 1467-1566), dont celle de son fameux "Tratatto della Vita Sobria" (Traité de la vie sobre). Un vie déréglée l'ayant affligé en son jeune âge de diverses maladies, il décida d'être son propre médecin et se guérit en choisissant une vie sobre (la première cause de maladie étant la gloutonnerie, plus meurtrière que la peste ou la guerre.). Enfin, le recueil se clôt sur un très rare opuscule, la seconde édition de la "Lettre de Monsieur Hallé de La Touche, Chirurgien-Dentiste". Bon état (2 ff. entre le premier et le second titre, et 1 f. après le feuillet de titre de "L'Art de Conserver les Dents", ont été enlevés, mais tous les ouvrages sont parfaitement complet, petit mq. de papier à 2 ff. dont le feuillet de titre de "L'Art de Conserver les Dents", reliure un peu frottée ayant peut-être été l'objet d'une habile restauration ancienne). Legatura inizi 800 in mz. pelle con fili, fregio e titoli oro su doppio tassello al dorso. Antica firmetta di appartenenza al frontespizio. Macchie marginali, piccole mancanze e alcuni brevi percorsi di tarlo perlopiù marginali ma che in un caso ledono poche lettere di testo. Esemplare complessivamente in buono stato di conservazione. Rara seconda edizione stampata in Italia aumentata e corretta dopo quella del 1617 (l originale è del 1605) della più importante opera del gesuita Leonard de Leys (1554-1623) che insegnò filosofia e teologia a Douay e a Lovanio e fu al centro di aspre controversie dottrinali. Il De Iustitia è ritenuto il suo miglior trattato e gli consentì d inserirsi nella scia di Bellarmino, Molina, Vasquez e Suarez. Quest opera di teologia morale è uno dei più antichi trattati che indaga sull etica dell economia, ed è notevole per le sue analisi della pratica commerciale. Le vedute di Lessius sulla moralità delle operazioni economiche esercitarono una considerevole influenza sul pensiero di uomini di stato e di alte cariche religiose. Non in Br. Libr.
