F. 49ERS / All the Way -- Pro Football Hall of Fame 1969".Italian-born Hall of Fame football player Leo Nomellini [1924-2000] only began playing football in 1942 after serving with the Marines in World War II. He received a football scholarship to the University of Minnesota, where he became a two-time All American and the 49ers' first ever NFL draft choice in 1950. He played in every 49ers game for 14 seasons, playing both offensive and defensive tackle. He was selected to the All-NFL team six times and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969.

The British Adventure Hero offers a unique focus on how the adventure hero s masculinity is shaped by Victorian industrial, technological, and scientific developments, which influenced concepts of national identity both psychologically and physiologically. Central to exploring the relationship between the adventure hero and industrialisation are the original illustrations that were printed with the stories in periodicals and the first illustrated editions. This approach to studying the partnership between both text and illustrations demonstrates that the adventure story is a paradox: an outcome of invention, scientific, technological and industrial progress, yet also a supposed escape from nineteenth-century industrial modernity. The book traces this context through analysis of Robert Louis Stevenson s Treasure Island (1883), Arthur Conan Doyle s The Lost World (1912), Jules Verne s Around the World in Eighty Days (1873), and Edgar Rice Burroughs s Tarzan of the Apes (1912). This book shows how European theological libraries tackled these challenges; how they survived by redefining their task, by participating in the renewal of scholarly librarianship, and by networking internationally. Since 1972, BETH, the Association of European Theological Libraries, has stimulated this process by enabling contacts among a growing number of national library associations all over Europe. This volume commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the association known as BETH (Bibliothèques Européennes de Théologie), by presenting a rich collection of essays and case-studies about European theological libraries and the library associations that support them. Divided into three major parts, the book first surveys the history and current status of theological and religious libraries across Europe ? how they emerged, how they adapted to secularisation, shifting theological education, and changing church-society relationships.
