She had been film critic for more than thirty years and for filmgoers of that generation Sunday would not be the same without her inspired guide to the week's films, always well informed, sometimes astringent, never malicious. It was C. P. Scott, the great editor of the Manchester Guardian and a close friend of her mother, who gave C. A. lejeune a start in journalism, sending her to London as film critic of the Guardian in the early 1920's.
