Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Three hardcover books. All are bound in three-quarter leather, with variegated marbled paper over the boards. Dark brown leather over corners and spine, with five raised band and gold lettering. Top edges gilt. Marbled endpapers, with a neatly affixed bookplate inside each front cover. This set of 19th century French illustrated books are from the library of Casimir Stralem (1886 - 1932), a chief partner in Hallgarten & Co. investment bank. Books measure 9.25 x 6.5 inches. Each volume is illustrated with numerous photomechanical prints; "Voyage" also has a folding map. The leather is worn at board edges, raised bands, hinges, and tops and bottoms of the spines. The front free end paper and half title page of "La matrone" are loose, hanging on by a small thread. Binding is otherwise strong, with clean and unmarked pages. Though there is some wear to this set, they remain handsome bindings with beautiful, small illustrations. Please e-mail us with questions or to request photos. Zustand: Matted. Fine. Signed both in-print and in autograph pencil at lower right, with circular red printer's mark. 8-1/2 x 14 1/4 inches. This original impression of Legrand's "Le Deshabillage," from his 1893 Les Petites du Ballet series, is signed twice by him: once in autograph pencil in the lower right margin, as well as in-print at lower left. It was created in Paris by publisher Gustave Pellet, whose small red stamp appears below the lower right corner of the print. Legrand's work was often compared to that of his contemporaries, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Edgar Degas, a similarity particularly apparent in this fine etching.
