Situated just north of London, Hertfordshire is a historic county of England, with its development tied with London's. It was the site of numerous uprisings against the monarchy, including the English Civil War and the War of the Roses, and contains an unusually high number of abandoned settlements, possibly relating to the soil quality and the Black Death.These three volumes cover the sessions books from 1700 until 1833.Written by William John Hardy, an English archivist and antiquarian. Along with William Page, he worked on the county records for Hertfordshire, whose county was pioneering the care of its archives.Compiled under the direction of the Hertfordshire County Council. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; a little bumped to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little spotted to the fore edges, with the odd spot internally. Very Good Indeed. book.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with a gilt crest to each of the front boards. Volume I covers the years 1678 to 1694, volume II covers 1694 to 1705, and volume III covers 1705 to 1712. With the original glassine wrap to volume III. Both volumes are edited by William Le Hardy, with additional edited to volume II and III by Geoffrey Reckitt. Both of these works are compiled under the direction of the standing joint committee of the Buckinghamshire Quarter Sessions and County Council. An interesting work of local interest.
