"That it has been possible to get out of Hungary, despite terror and censorship, so detailed, intimate and factual an account of what has been going on is due to the fact that men and women have constantly risked their well-being and indeed their lives to make that information available to us. The result is a book which will stand as definitive in our time. Every detail of the Cardinal's present existence - from the moment of his sentence to life imprisonment on February 8, 1949 to his staged 'release' following the Geneva Conference and his subsequent reimprisonment - is recounted in full, dramatic detail.
