Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Laura Serratos is a Mexican American English Language Arts teacher, writer, author, and poet in Northwest Indiana. In 2003, Laura earned a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in School Administration from Purdue University Calumet where she launched a website dedicated to highlighting the creative w…orks of women in the arts. After spending some time as a substitute teacher, she received a Master of Arts in Teaching at Calumet College of St. Joseph. She has spent ten years in education where she has been touched tremendously by the lives and stories of her students who come from all walks of life, which often inspire her written work.At a very young age, Laura knew that one day she would see her name in the title of her own book. Many weekends were spent at her grandparent's home in the South Chicago neighborhood where her imagination took off. Armed with paper, markers, and a stapler, the seed of authorship was planted in the heart of a young eight year old girl. Laura dreamed of one day telling her story of love, laughter, and the sometimes hard realities of life. A bit of this dream has been fulfilled with an original piece published within a student anthology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she completed some undergraduate work.Laura Serratos lives in Schererville, Indiana with her husband, four children, baby Jude and furbabies, Penny and Reader. When she is not teaching and writing, you could find her engrossed in poetry, fiction or self-help. More important hobbies include travelling to discover food and culture, wishing upon a star, and staring out of the window daydreaming about rainbows and butterflies.
