In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Good. None (illustrator). First edition. An informative French pamphlet on the history of the Ecole militaire, which houses various military training facilities, by Robert Laulan, with an additional English translation of extracts from the pamphlet handwritten by a G. F. Very scarce, in the publisher's original paper wraps. This is an interesting historical work by Robert Laulan, which provides detailed information on the Ecole militaire, as well as 'religious life in the former royal hotel'.The Ecole militaire is a complex of buildings within Paris which house various military training facilities, and was founded in 1750 by King Louis XV. The building is not only an active military academy, but has been classified as a 'national monument' since 1990, and can only be visited during European Heritage Days. This work was published through the Societe de L'Histoire de Paris, which was first founded in 1874 and was the 'first learned society devoted to studying and marking more widely known the history of Paris and its region.'Written by Robert Laulan, who wrote a range of other historical pamphlets and articles such as 'Renan et le celibat des pretres' (1970), 'La fondation de l'Ecole militaire et Madame de Pompadour' (1974), and 'Pourquoi et comment on entrait a l'Ecole royale militaire de Paris' (1957).This work comes with an additional handwritten paper pamphlet containing 'G. F.'s extracts', providing an English translation for the French work. With a photograph of 'Une de le chapelle Cote Trebune' and a hand-drawn and coloured depiction of a French soldier loosely inserted into text.Collated, complete. Bound in the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, sound. This work is disbound, with the wraps fully detached from the binding, but still present. Age-toning and chipping to the wraps, particularly along the extremities. English translation is very smart, with a few marks to wraps. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are age-toned, but very clean throughout. The translation pamphlet is firmly bound, with light ge-toning to the top edge of text. Good. book.
