In den Warenkorb24 x 28cm 208pp very good hardback with Italian text and colour reproductions. Born in Bologna iLucio Fanti settled in Paris in 1965. He was associated with the Jeune Peinture movement and later with the "Narrative Figuration" group, brought together by the critic GÈrald Gassiot-Talabot. Marked since childhood by Soviet Russia, Fanti initially painted the regime's iconic images ironically to denounce its hypocrisy. This led to a more intimate body of work, including pieces dedicated to the tragic figure of Mayakovsky. Nature, always present in his paintings, gradually took on greater importance, eventually becoming the central subject of the Vines series and, more recently, the Grapes series. The essence of Lucio Fanti's work is aptly summarised by what Italo Calvino wrote about him in 1980: "Poetry strives to build a bridge between History and nature, a fragile bridge." Alongside his painting, he created numerous sets for the theatre and opera, collaborating with great European directors: Bondy, Gr ber, Hemleb, Jourdheuil, Mussbach, Olmi, Sobel, Stein, St?tzner and Vincent. This book pays tribute to painting and theatre and brings together original texts by Bernard Chapuis, RÈgis Debray, Jorge Semprun, Sarah Wilson, Bernard Sobel and Peter Stein.
