East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins (neither in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with a lengthy piece on the Black Panther Party and police informants who infiltrated the organization, all in relation to the trial of the Black Panther 21 in New York. Also present is a lengthy interview with activist George Jackson conducted while in prison. A full page color comix by Kim Dietch also present, etc. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Paper a bit brittle. Minor chipping and tearing along the extremities.
