The authors address a broad range of subjects including gender-specific implications of social politics, feminist positioning and increasingly virulent forms of nationalism. They discuss the "body" and "sexuality" against the background of their own political and academic traditions. Retrospective historical views focus on the images of women and concepts of roles from the era of socialism and "state feminism" as well as on women's movements, politically active women and networks in individual countries in Central, East and South Europe from the beginning of the 18th century.
