Durch die Globalisierung der Märkte heutzutage gewinnt diese Organisationsform immer mehr Aufmerksamkeit und Bedeutung in der modernen Zivilgesellschaft und nimmt stärker Gestaltungsbedarf auf der politischen Ebene. Das 'Internationale Rote Kreuz', gegründet 1864, ist eine der ältesten NGOs, die heutzutage vorwiegend Fremdhilfe in Kriegs-, Not- und Katastrophenfällen leistet, aber auch früher schon advokatorisch für humane Formen der internationalen Kriegsführung und Gefangenenbehandlung eingesetzt hat. Doch was macht diese Art von Initiative zu was Besonderem und Neuen Und wie sind NGOs intern aufgebaut und was kann sie, was andere Organisationen bislang nicht konnten Die folgende Arbeit versucht genau diese Fragen zu beantworten und einen Einblick in ebendiese Organisationspolitik von NGOs zu bekommen. Dabei wird ein direkter Praxisbezug am Fallbeispiel der Johanniter Unfall-Hilfe e.V., die es seit den 1960er Jahren in Deutschland gibt, herzustellen.
