Collection of three Lyonese 16th cent. imprints with ''Sententiae''. [1] Aristoteles. Sententiae omnes undiquaque selectissimae, quae indicis vice in absoluta, et integra eius opera esse quent, postremo jam editae. Lyon, apud Guiillaume Rouillé, 1554, in-16°, 189 pp + (3)nn pp. USTC 151654. (Gültlingen X p.100; 272). [2] Cicero. Sententiae insigniores, apophthegmata, parabolae, seu similia, atque eiusdem aliquot piae sententiae compendiensi. Lyon, apud Guillaume Rouillé, 1552, in-16°, 310 pp + (10)nn pp (index). USTC 115232 (Gültlingen X p. 93 ; 230). [3] Georg Major. Sententiae veterum poetarum, per locos communes digestae. De poëtica virtute. Antonio Mancinello. Lyon, apud Jean I de Tournes & Guillaume Gazeau, 1551. in-16°, 288 pp + (32)nn pp ( all 3 complete). USTC 51232, Gültlingen IX p. 165 ; 205. Three complete works in one binding. 17th century French full leather, raised gilt spine, marbled edges, marbled paper paste down. Binding with severe traces of use and some loss of leather at head and tail of spine. First two title pages with some ink stains, further some scattered ink stains. Clear old water stains in the first and the third work. Notwithstanding these flaws still an interesting collection of three rare simultaneous and complete Lyonese imprints.

Zustand: Near Fine. First Edition. A wonderful piece of Princeton University history. A "unique replica" of the Graduate College, commissioned in 2000 by the Princeton Graduate Alumni to mark the Centennial of the Graduate School. Designed by French artist and sculptor Patrice J.M. Lagnier (AND SIGNED AND DATED BY HIM at the reverse), this particular model was gifted to Dean Ted Ziolkowski, the Graduate School's Dean from 1979-1992. The piece measures 13 1/2" long x 11" wide and weighs 12 lbs. Rendered in painstaking detail, down to the windows in the gothic towers and the bushes and trees dotting the landscape. One small, inconspicuous bush missing, otherwise clean as could be, with the buildings and grounds bright and very solid. Also includes a set of printed blueprints of renovation work done to the campus in 1987. The small placard affixed to the sculpture reads: "The Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni in Honor of the Centennial of the Graduate School Princeton University, December 13, 2000".
