Interior is lightly toned but otherwise unmarked. Quite scarce, OCLC. 47734342. Dame Agnes Jekyll, DBE (née Graham; 12 October 1861 28 January 1937) was a British artist, writer and philanthropist. The daughter of William Graham, Liberal MP for Glasgow (18651874) and patron of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, sister-in-law of the famous gardener. A collection of aphorisms, poems, short essays, and quotations that Jekyll enjoyed. Collected by herself and edited by her daughters and printed as a memorial to their mother the year of her death. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 328 pages.

First edition of these articles collected in book form.In the original cloth binding.Consisting of a collection of articles originally written for The Times in the early 1920s by Agnes Jekyll, a British artist, writer and philanthropist. With titles such as 'Children's Bread', 'Sunday Supper' and 'Cottage Hospitality', these were recipes interlaced with Jekyll's enjoyable commentary.Jekyll was also a famous hostess, with guests of hers including Browning, Ruskin and Burne-Jones. In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. A couple spots and handling marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. With scattered spots throughout and an ownership bookplate of ones Martin and Pamela Finch to the front free endpaper. A couple ink inscriptions to the half title page. Very Good. book.
