So together they called the grandmother and she said, 'Well my mother always did that, but the reason that she did it was the pan was too small. We had to cut the ends off in order for it to fit in the pan.' All this time that ham tasted good and was delicious, but it wasn't because the end was cut off, although that was the perception given.
