In the original cloth binding. Externally, shelf wear to the boards and fading to the extremities. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Cloth is split to the joints. Containing a bookplate from Richmond College to the front pastedown, and contemporary ink signatures to the front pastedown, front free-endpaper and front blank. Internally, hinges are strained, and binding is slightly tender. A few spots to the first and last few pages, and a few handling marks throughout, otherwise pages are generally clean. Good Only. A notable early travel and archaeological work on Petra and its environs. In a contemporary half calf binding with marbled paper boards. Externally, a touch sad and rather worn. Rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to calf. Slight rubbing to boards, more so to rear board. Slight lifting to calf of spine at joints and head of spine, more so to head. Previous owner's small ink inscription to head of title page. Internally, firmly bound. Hinges strained in places, but firm. Pages right and clean with slight age toning to fore edge. Small closed tear to plate facing p. 216 with very minor loss, not affecting the image. One or two spots and handling marks, heavier to first and last few leaves.
