Previous owner ink inscription to the front endpaper. Illustrated with numerous vignettes throughout and 8 full page plates by E. Caldwell. Collated complete. Rebacked with the original cloth backstrip preserved. Externally lightly rubbed to the spine and extremities. The odd handling mark to the front and rear boards. A tale of Collyns's pursuit of the wild red deer, a fascianting tale that communicates the obsession of a hunter. This edition is particularly attractive for featuring the illustrations of animal artist Edmund Caldwell, who captures both the sensitivity and majesty of the wild red deer.
