Die Bogenränder werden dadurch zwar ungleich, aber das Satzbild steht gerade. Um infolge der ungleichen Ränder ein späteres zu starkes Beschneiden mit der Maschine zu vermeiden, werden die Bogen einzeln, vorne und unten, mit der Pappschere auf ein Mittelmaß rauh beschnitten. Ein mit der Hand hergestelltes, dazupassendes Überzugpapier sowie Handvergoldung oder Blinddruck am Rücken ergänzen das Werk nach außen.
