Sehr guter Zustand. - Jacob Isaacksz. van Ruisdael (* um 162829[1] in Haarlem; begraben 14. März 1682 ebenda) war ein niederländischer Landschafts- und Marinemaler. Leben: Über das Leben von Jacob Isaacksz. van Ruisdael ist nur recht wenig überliefert, die meisten Informationen stammen von Urkunden oder Briefen. Er war der Sohn des Malers und Rahmenbauers Isaak van Ruisdael, bei dem er wahrscheinlich auch seine Ausbildung machte, sowie der Neffe von Salomon van Ruysdael und der Vetter von Jacob Salomonsz. van Ruysdael. 1648 trat er in die Malergilde seiner Heimatstadt Haarlem ein. Gemeinsam mit Nicolaes Berchem reiste er kurz darauf durch die Niederlande und auch nach Deutschland, wo Berchem die Heimatstadt seines Vaters Pieter Claesz besuchte. Danach ging er wahrscheinlich nach Amsterdam, wo er am 17. Juni darum bat, das Glaubensbekenntnis abzulegen, um Mitglied der reformierten (d.h. calvinistischen) Kirche zu werden. Am 15. Januar 1657 erwarb er das Bürgerrecht von Amsterdam, das poorterrecht. Im Oktober des gleichen Jahres wurde er in Caen zum Doktor der Medizin promoviert. Einer seiner Auftraggeber war der Amsterdamer Regent Cornelis de Graeff, welchen Ruisdael beim Einzug auf sein Landgut Soestdijk zeigt.[2] Der Maler Meindert Hobbema war offensichtlich lange Zeit sein Schüler, so zumindest behauptete er es 1660. 1668 war van Ruisdael Trauzeuge von Hobbema. Am 23. Mai 1667 diktierte er einem Amsterdamer Notar sein Testament, bereits am 27. Mai desselben Jahres widerrief er es und setzte seinen Vater als Universalerben für seinen Todesfall ein; verheiratet war van Ruisdael offensichtlich nicht. 1671 war er Pate bei der Taufe zweier Kinder des Malers Cornelis Kick. Meyers Konversationslexikon berichtet, dass van Ruisdael 1681 wegen Armut nach Haarlem zurückgeschickt wurde, wo er in einem Armenhaus starb.[3] Wahrscheinlich starb er allerdings 1682 in Amsterdam und wurde erst posthum nach Haarlem gebracht und dort am 14. März 1682 begraben. Werk: Meyer Konversationslexikon von 1888 beschrieb das Werk von Jacob van Ruisdael folgendermaßen: Ruisdael ist der größte holländische Landschaftsmaler und in Bezug auf Tiefe und Energie der poetischen Stimmung wie auf plastische Kraft der Darstellung einer der größten Landschaftsmaler überhaupt. Er hat die Landschaft zum Spiegel menschlichen Empfindens gemacht und zum ersten Mal die Geheimnisse der Naturseele enthüllt. Ruisdael hat die Motive zu seinen Landschaften zum Teil der Umgebung Haarlems, zum Teil den Holland benachbarten Gegenden Deutschlands wie der Grafschaft Bentheim entlehnt, wo er sich besonders in das Studium der Eichenwälder vertiefte. Unter dem Einfluss seines Freundes Allart van Everdingen hat er auch mit Vorliebe frei erfundene Wasserfälle mit den Eichenwäldern in Verbindung gebracht. Seine Landschaften sind sehr zahlreich (etwa 450). Besonders gut ist er in der Dresdener Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister und im Berliner Museum vertreten." Meyers Konversations-Lexikon, 4.
