Reliure hollandaise en plein vélin rigide doré, dos à nerfs orné des armes de la ville d'Amsterdam, plars frappés au centre des armes de la ville d'Amsterdam, une première frise d'encadrement contenant les armes de la ville, fer doré des armes de la ville d'Amsterdam dans les angles, une seconde frise d'encadrement plus large, tranches mouchetées. Vélin assombri, une fente sur 2,5 au milieu du mors supérieur, une épidermure et une trace claire sur le premier plat, ors des fers estompés par endroits, traces de lacets, rousseurs éparses. Somptueux exemplaire des vies de Pythagore des néoplatoniciens Jamblique et Porphyre, aux grandes armes de la ville d'Amsterdam surmontées de laStedemaagd, l'allégorie féminine de la ville, entourée de chérubins. * Dès sa parution, on souligna la qualité de cette édition du texte de Jamblique : "M. R. Kuster [.] a pris soin de l'impression de ce Recueil. La première des pièces qui le composent, c'est-à-dire le livre d'Iamblique sur la vie et la philosophie de Pythagore, avoit déja paru en 1598. imprimé chez Commelin in-4 avec la version latine de Jean Arcerius, Frison. Vellum darkened, a 2.5 cm split to the middle of the upper joint, one abrasion and a pale mark to the upper cover, some gilt tooling partially faded,traces of ties, scattered foxing. Magnificent copy of the Neoplatonist biographies of Pythagoras by Iamblichus and Porphyry, with the arms of the city of Amsterdam featuring the Stedemaagd, the allegorical female figure of the city flanked by cherubs. * Upon publication, this edition of Iamblichus' text was immediately praised: "Mr. R.
