Kusch was jointly awarded the 1955 Nobel Prize in physics, with Willis Eugene Lamb, for their contributions to knowledge of the atom: "The Nobel Prize in Physics 1955 was divided equally between Willis Eugene Lamb "for his discoveries concerning the fine structure of the hydrogen spectrum" and Polykarp Kusch "for his precision determination of the magnetic moment of the electron." Polykarp Kusch (1911 :: 1993) was a German-American physicist, graduated from Case Western Reserve and the University of Illinois.
