Celui-ci comptant parmi les 300 du tirage numérotés sur vélin d'Arches. Il s'agrémente - ici en premier tirage - de ''trois bois originaux et inédits de Coubine''. ''Elève peu régulier des Académies de Prague et d'Anvers, Coubine vint en France et en Italie dès 1903. Se fixant rapidement en France, ses figures et ses natures mortes, autant que ses paysages, lui assurèrent très vite une place d'importance dans la jeune école, où il représenta en quelque sorte, un rare accord entre l'invention moderne et les principes classiques. Thiébault-Sisson vantant la ''lumière élyséenne'' de ses toiles. Il a illustré quelques livres, dont Allen de Larbaud, Orages de Mauriac et Les Mimes des courtisanes de Lucien par Louÿs. Coubine, au travers son oeuvre, a réussi l'accord parfait entre composition classique et analyse formelle post-cubiste. Eigenhändiger Brief mit Ort, Datum, Unterschrift Simane, 9. brezna/März 1934 1 S. 8°, etwas knitterspurig, in Tinte an eine Person in Genf, die das Buch Die katholische Schweizerin besorgen soll. Er schreibt aus Simane (bei Paris, Frankreich), wartet auf einen Brief u. fragt, ob sie Ostern zusammen sind.

Zustand: guter Zustand. Kaltnadelradierung, auf aufgewalztem China. 17,7:13 cm. - Im Bereich des Randes, außerhalb der Darstellung, stockfleckig. Der deutsch-tschechische Maler, Graphiker und Bildhauer ging 1912 nach Frankreich, nahm den Namen Coubine" an und wurde 1926 französischer Staatsbürger. Er war mit Pablo Picasso befreundet.

Hyères, France: February 9, 1948. Single folded leaf, two pages of text written in blue ink; old creases, else very good. An interesting, substantial letter to an unnamed recipient ("Doctor"), concerning a planned exhibition of his works in Prague. Kubín confirms his enthusiasm, inquires about the catalog, and describes the works available for potential loan, requesting further information about the size of the exhibition space, in order to better select the artworks. Kubín (1883-1969) was a Czech and French painter, graphic artist and sculptor of international renown. Along with Emil Filla and Bohumil Kuba?ta he was a member of the expressionist Osma group (1907-1908) and in 1913 exhibited in Herwarth Walden's "Erster Deutscher Herbstsalon." After emigrating to France in 1912, his work was primarily associated with Impressionism and he repeatedly exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants. He was a close friend of Pablo Picasso and notably influenced by van Gogh and Gauguin.

Mit dem Trockenstempel "Die Schaffenden". - Der tschechisch-französische Maler, Grafiker und Bildhauer Otakar Kubín, französische Namensform Othon Coubine, studierte Malerei an der Prager Akademie der Bildenden Künste. Mitglied der Prager Künstlergruppe Die Acht". 1913 konnte er beim Ersten Deutschen Herbstsalon in Berlin fünf Bilder ausstellen. Um sein Wissen über neue künstlerische Techniken zu erweitern ging er 1912 nach Frankreich, wo er besonders von Vincent van Gogh und Paul Gaugin beeinflusst wurde. Mit Pablo Picasso war er befreundet. 1952 kehrte er in seine Heimat zurück. - Verso in den oberen Ecken unter Passepartout montiert. Papier etwas gebräunt und mit einigen Flecken im Rand und einem winzigen Fleckchen im Darstellungsrand. Sprache: Deutsch 34,5 x 24,5 cm (Darstellung). 41 x 29,8 cm (Papier).
