Hardcover. Zustand: Sehr gut. Barbara Kruger (illustrator). 1. Auflage. B : First Trade Edition. Not paginated. - "My Pretty Pony" is a short story written by Stephen King and illustrated by the artist Barbara Kruger. It was the sixth publication in the Whitney Museum of American Art artist and writer series. Kruger's art often pairs appropriated black and white photographs with red bands of text carrying punchy, loaded phrases, such as "I shop therefore I am" or "Your body is a battleground." These provocative combinations of texts and images subvert commodity culture while simultaneously reveling in its attractive packaging.

Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. first trade edition. A fine, fresh, apparently unread copy in equally fine matching slipcase. Small folio in illustrated paper covered boards. Unpaginated. Illustrated with lithographs printed by Derriere L'Etoile Studios and silkscreens by Pinwheel. First trade edition after the 1988 deluxe signed limited edition of 250 copies in steel covers. Text of the short story by Stephen King and illustrations by conceptual artist and collagist Barbara Kruger. The story is about an elderly man who is nearing death, who takes his grandson up a hill behind his house, where he gives the boy his pocket watch. He tells the boy about the "nature of time" and that, as one grows older, time moves faster and faster, slipping away in great chucks unless you hold tightly on to it. Time is the pretty pony, one with a wicked heart. King included the story in the 1993 collection of short stories "Nightmares and Deamscapes".

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. folio. [ff. 32]. 9 colour lithographs, 8 silkscreens & 1 lithograph with screenprint. Uncut in original quarter red morocco, sheets of brushed aluminum mounted on sides, digital clock on upper cover. First Edition, Limited to 250 copies (+ 30 Author's copies) on Rives, signed by Kruger and King. This is the sixth of the Artists and Writers Series published by the Library Fellows of the Whitney Museum. The lithographs were printed by Maurice Sánchez at Derrière L'Étoile Studios, and the the silkscreens were printed by Pinwheel, New York. The text was set by hand in Century Schoolbook and printed at A.Colish under the supervision of Jerry Kelly. This artist's book combines King's short story about the perception and experience of time with Kruger's overlaid images of horses and riders. The images contain a small photograph of a hand holding a stopwatch punctuated by one or two words which together spell "Time ain't got nothing to do with how fast you can count". The brushed stainless steel cover of the book incorporates a digital clock to track the reader's own time but the battery has now run out. Signed by Author(s).

Zustand: Fine. Signed Deluxe Limited Edition. Limited first edition, one of 250 unnumbered copies signed by both Stephen King and Barbara Kruger. Folio. Bound in publisher's red morocco-backed brushed stainless steel-covered boards with inset digital clock on front board; housed in the original buckram slipcase. Near Fine. Clock batteries are dead, as usual; some thumbprints to steel, minor spotting to case. A stunning production with 8 silkscreens and 10 lithographs. With two manilla enveloped from the Whitney Museum laid in, one postmarked March 14, 1989, with prospectus and other related ephemera. King's short fable about mortality and time juxtaposed by Barbara Kruger's Lichtenstein-esque color lithographs of wranglers and their fallen horses. Fragmented text silkscreens in her iconic Futura Oblique font boldly form the phrase, "Time ain't got nothing to do with how fast you can count." The sixth publication in the Whitney Museum of American Art artist and writer series; uncommon in the original slipcase. A beautiful copy of this lavish production. Brooks A38.1.
