An den nicht namentlich genannten Musikwissenschaftler, -kritiker und Librettisten Richard Batka, dem er sich als langjähriger Arrangeur für den verstorbenen Komponisten Brzetislav Lvovsky vorstellt - "habe für Herrn Lvovsky 10 Jahre, so lange er für das Theater gedichtet, und componiert hatte 6 Opern und 14 für das Theaterorchester Operetten eingerichtet". Lvovskys letztes Werk, eine einaktige Oper "Der Faktor", "frei nach Turgenjeff's Erzählung 'Der Jude'", spielt zur Zeit der Eroberung Danzigs durch russisch-preußische Truppen 1813; er habe sie erst nach Lvovskys Tod zur Instrumentierung erhalten, doch als er etwa bei der Hälfte war, habe ihm Theaterdirektor Wieland mitgeteilt, "daß die Musik von Lvovsky doch aufgeführt wird. Ich sollte eine Operetten Musik schreiben", und die habe er nun fertig, doch "dann ist der Krieg ausgebrochen und die Verhandlungen mit Herr Dr. Wieland sind abgebrochen worden. Vor 2-3 Monaten lese ich: In der Volksoper wird die zweiaktige Oper 'Der polnische Jude', Buch von Dr. Batka [.] gegeben [.] Jetzt kommt die Hauptfrage. Eine russische Handlung aus dem Jahre 1813 nimmt gegenwärtig eine deutsche Bühne absolut nicht an. Herr Doktor! Die Musik ist gut, die Gelegenheit wäre hier und es könnte einen Erfolg haben. Machen Sie zu der Musik einen neuen Text. Zeit: Gegenwart. Ort: Limanova, Karpaten, Przemysl oder Lemberg [.]".
