Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The book Huts Hedges Heaps (Ingar Krauss's second publication with Hartmann Books after 39 Bilder of 2016) is about human order in nature. The laconic photographs of small, rural gardens that Krauss shot between 2010 and 2017 particularly in Brandenburg show concentrated traces of human efforts to create order, which take on graphic and sculptural dimensions in the pictures' structure. In the Black Forest he produced pictures of wood piles, whose man-made forms seem even more abstract because they organically fit into the structures of their natural surroundings, recalling the work of Land artists. The huts, hedges, and heaps are connected to the American New Topographic movement of the 1970s insofar as they 'fulfill everything that people wanted in a picture in those days, overturning an observation into a 'higher' order of some kind; the monumentalization of the everyday, not by resorting to monumentalizing genres, but by the captivating composition of the image,' as Ulf Erdmann Ziegler writes.; (Please scroll down for english version)Die Bilder in Hütten, Hecken, Haufen (dem zweiten Buch von Ingar Krauss bei Hartmann Books nach 39 Bilder von 2016) zeigen vom Menschen geordnete Natur. The book Huts Hedges Heaps (Ingar Krauss's second publication with Hartmann Books after 39 Bilder of 2016) is about human order in nature. sonst. Bücher. Zustand: Neu. After a number of catalogues, »39 Pictures« is now the second monograph on Ingar Krauss (\*1965, Berlin). His first book, »Portraits« (2005), featuring portraits of children and teenagers, revealed his independent position on today's fine arts photography scene. In »39 Pictures« Ingar Krauss presents thirty-nine still lifes, whose contents are derived from the rural environment surrounding his photography studio in Oderbruch. Vegetables, fruit, grain, flowers, and animals are photographed in analogue technique under natural light in self-constructed, stage-like boxes. They've been developed in his own darkroom, and finally, enlarged by hand and glazed in oil paint. His pictures look surreal, sometimes gloomy, always timeless; they obey no trend and cannot be attributed to any school. His inspiration comes from his immediate experience of landscape, farming, the seasons of the year, and atmospheres, although these new pictures are more akin to portraits than still lifes.Hartmann Books worked closely with Krauss and the publisher Suzy Shammah on the book's design. Binding and paper are carefully chosen to present the photographs in a congenial book form.Ulf Erdmann Ziegler's essay in both German and English (»He Who Lives Still Lifes Lives Inside«) is more than just the usual sort of text that accompanies today's photography books. His essay reenacts the way that one looks at the photographs; it's an independent and very readable literary commentary on the visual tasks of the still life, its history, and its contents.…

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - (Please scroll down for english version)Seit 2017 portraitiert Ingar Krauss Zuckerrüben in ihrer individuellen Gestalt. Weitere Titel von Ingar Krauss bei Hartmann Books: 39 Bilder, 2016 ; Hütten Hecken Haufen, 2019__________________________________Ingar Krauss has been depicting sugar beets in their individual form since 2017. As he did in his book 2016 book of still lifes '39 Bilder' , he also stages the sugar beets in natural light against a dark background, photographing them in black-and-white using analog methods and reducing them to the essentials of their appearance. Thus, over the years, a typology of this 'Beta Vulgaris' has emerged. His sugar beet physiognomies allow the cultivar to appear in its simple dignity and melancholy, while at the same time providing the opportunity to contemplate human perception of, and appreciation, for nature and its products. To avoid superficial, quick browsing, this publication was not conceived as a classic book, but as a lavishly produced portfolio box, with 36 individual picture cards printed in strong tritone on cardboard, a poster featuring the complete typology, and a text booklet with an essay by Eugen Blume. Ingar Krauss (\*1965) works exclusively in analog, makes all the prints himself, and understands photography as an 'alchemical image process that is also related to fine art, painting, and printmaking, in terms of craftsmanship' (from the accompanying text by Eugen Blume). Other titles by Ingar Krauss at Hartmann Books: '39 Bilder', 2016 ; 'Hütten Hecken Haufen', 2019. …

Condition: Inside excellent, like new and unread; fresh and flawless, clean with no marks and with no foxing. Outside very fresh; little nick at the bottom of the front cover, otherwise flawless. Overall very fine condition! Without exception, the unusual photographs by Ingar Krauss, born 1965 in Berlin, are portraits of children and teenagers in faded gray and sepia tones. The subjects look serious, proud, unapproachable, remote, and sometimes defiant-childlike, and yet too mature for their age. Frequently, the photographer finds his models at home and on his travels to typical childhood institutions of the former Eastern Bloc countries: summer camps, Socialist clubhouses for Young Pioneers, and orphanages. Krauss prints his black-and-white portraits on old photographic paper produced in Eastern Europe, which gives his pictures a timeless, melancholy tone. In 2004 the artist received the Leica Prize of the Grand Prix International de Photographie in Vevey. His work has already been presented in numerous solo and group shows both in Germany and abroad.***************Hatje Cantz, Ostfildern. 2005.
