Frontispiece illustrated with a color image depicting a leaf, followed by a beautiful red and blue color plate and another plate with a dedication to Pietro Primo. Original illustrated brochure. The paperback has stains and a small damage on the spine. Inside uncut a little bit of foxing. With a dedication to the famous jewish Orientalist Jules Oppert "A monsieur Jules Oppert, hommage respectuex de l'auteur. St. Peterbourg, 22. Aout (3. Sept) Jules Oppert (1825-1905 in Paris) was a french-german old orientalist, who studied in Heidelbert, Bonn, Berlin and Kiel, his dissertation was "De Jure Indorum Criminali". In 1847 he moved to France his works "Lautsystem des Altpersischen" (1847) is one of the mayor works of Old Persian. In 1851 he identified the ruins of Babylon and published hiss works "Expédition Scientifique en Mésopotamie" and wrote his second mayor work "Grammaire Sanscrite" . Later he identified the Sumerian language. In 1883 he became a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Books from his library and with a dedication are extremely rare. Kossowicz (1815-1883) was a Russian oreintalist /iranist, librarian and professor. Sprache: deutsch.
