Although Kollers love concepts represent only a small and rather intimate chapter in his practice, they pregnantly reflect his understanding and approach to the world. Koller draws most of his everyday routine into mounts of his (anti)art. Likewise, his partner Kveta Fulierova is thus mounted in and artifacted in his work. Beside an art historical study on the theme J+K of Petra Hanakova , the book consists also of original memoirs written by Kveta Fulierova. From mostly a romantic perspective Kveta recalls a coexistence with a peculiar partner, their mutual inspiration and reveals the genesis of some of their mutual works. Apart from concepts, mostly from Kveta Fulierovas private archive, the book features a rich biographical material.

It highlights key themes and methods that underpin his artistic practice, emphasising his conceptual clarity and critical perspective toward the established norms and conventions of the art scene. Koller?s approach involved radical artistic methods that intentionally distanced his work from traditional formalisms and various forms of aestheticism, aiming instead to cultivate new cultural situations. His vision sought to inspire a new life, a new creativity, and a new cosmo-humanistic culture, embodying statements like ?I want to put an end to aesthetics? and advocating for ?proletarian modesty.?Unlike many Western contemporaries, Koller eschewed merely sensitising viewers to the lyricism or politics inherent in everyday life. Rather, he aspired to engage art as a catalyst for structural and poetic transformations in reality. The exhibition not only underscores Koller?s critical stance but also invites a reconsideration of the roles that art and artists can play in challenging societal norms and fostering cultural dialogue.

Many color illustrations over 253 pages. Excellent condition - well bound, solid and sturdy. Interior is bright and clean with no marks at all. Some light rubbing and dust soiling to all white paper cover but still quite nice overall. Uncommon and lovely catalogue.
