Un patrón común, pero compartamientos diversos. Algunas veces la noticia lleva a los padres y a los hermanos a reforzar sus lazos con el hijo gay o la hija lesbiana. Otras, los compañeros de los hijos y las familias de aquéllos llegan a asumir plenamente el papel que les corresponde, en concordancia con los vínculos que les unen. En otras ocasiones los padres y los hermanos descubren un nuevo significado en sus vidas a través de la colaboración con los colectivos o asociaciones de padres, familias y amigos de lesbianas y gays, y por medio de la participación en la lucha por los derechos de los homosexuales.
