In diesem Kontext können die Globalisierungsbestrebungen als eine Krisenanpassungs- oder Krisenbewältigungsstrategie betrachtet werden, die Unternehmen zu neuen Rationalisierungsstrategien und zur Suche nach den besten Kapitalverwertungsbedingungen drängt. Entsprechend haben sie ihre Unternehmens- und Produktionsstrategien verändert. Besondere Bedeutung erlangen diese Entwicklungen für die Automobilindustrie, deren Strukturen, insbesondere im Zuliefererbereich, drastische Veränderungen erfahren.
