Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - In this paper, we empirically examine the portfolio-rebalancing effects stemming from the policy of 'quantitative monetary easing' recently undertaken by the Bank of Japan when the nominal short-term interest rate was virtually at zero. Portfolio-rebalancing effects resulting from the open market purchase of long-term government bonds under this policy have been statistically significant. Our results also show that the portfolio-rebalancing effects were beneficial in that they reduced risk premiums on assets with counter-cyclical returns, such as government and high-grade corporate bonds. But, they may have generated the adverse effects of increasing risk premiums on assets with pro-cyclical returns, such as equities and low-grade corporate bonds. These results are consistent with a CAPM framework in which business-cycle risk importantly affects risk premiums. Our estimates capture only some of the effects of quantitative easing and thus do not imply that the complete set of effects were adverse on net for Japan's economy. However, our analysis counsels caution in accepting the view that, ceteris paribus, a massive large-scale purchase of long-term government bonds by a central bank provides unambiguously positive net benefits to financial markets at zero short-term interest rates.

Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Seiten: 610 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | This book reviews all the findings about bonobos and the local people of Wamba village in the Luo Scientific Reserve in the Democratic Republic of the Congo over the last 50 years. In 1973, Takayoshi Kano, a Japanese primatologist, traveled across a vast area of the Congo Basin with a bicycle and found Wamba village to be a promising site to start his first studies on wild bonobos. Since then, many researchers from Japan and all over the world have been working at Wamba, now the longest standing study site, to uncover various aspects of the ecology and behavior of this most recently identified great ape species. The researchers study bonobo behaviors and carry out various activities for the conservation of bonobos. They also conduct anthropological studies of local people who live with bonobos and believe them to be distant relatives from the same family, living in the forest. This book is published in commemoration of 2023 marking the 50th year of study. The main chapters are contributed by active researchers studying bonobos and the local people at Wamba. The book also includes contributions from various eminent researchers who have carried out short-term research or have supported research at Wamba, which helps place these studies of bonobos in a broader primatological or anthropological perspective. This book will be a useful resource for professional researchers in primatology and anthropology, as well as graduate or undergraduate students interested in these research fields.

Vintage banner poster for US release of the 1967 Japanese-American kaiju film. Rare in this size format. The fourth film in the King Kong franchise. Loosely based on the animated Rankin/Bass' television series "The King Kong Show," the first anime-based series produced in Japan for an American company, which was aired on ABC from 1966 through 1969, and the second and final Toho-produced film featuring King Kong (preceded by the 1963 film "King Kong vs. Godzilla") until the 2021 film "Godzilla vs. Kong." A robot duplicate of King Kong, Mechani-Kong, is manufactured to dig for the highly radioactive Element X. When Mechani-Kong is unable to dig for the material, the evil Doctor Who and Madame Piranha decide to kidnap the real Kong. 82 x 24 inches.
