In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good. A beautiful 1871 green cloth edition, with a scarce and striking cover. A lovely, early green cloth edition of this work, in original binding, with a gilt top edge.Decorated with an intricate gilt motif to the front board, and an atmospheric cobweb design that frames both boards, and the spine. 'Strange Dwellings' has since been reprinted many times without this striking cover, making this copy a scarce artistic artefact.Featuring a woodcut frontispiece, and interspersed with vignette illustrations by W. F. Keyl, J. B. Zwecker, and E. Smith. An influential figure in his area of study, Rev. J. G. Wood wrote many volumes concerned with making natural history accessible to a wide audience. This title was abbreviated from one such work - 'Homes Without Hands', published in 1865 - with the addition, seen in this copy, of artwork by J. B. Zwecker.Includes 32 pages of the publisher's catalogue. Bound in original, green cloth. Externally, in very good condition. Slight shelf wear. Wear to spine tips. In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Good Only. Five attractive installments in this beautifully colour-illustrated children's picture-book series. Collection comprised of: History of Joseph; Pictures of English History: From the Druids to Magna Charta; The Farm Yard Alphabet; The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood; The Three Bears. All editions are very scarce and bound in the publisher's original coloured soft covers. Each work features six chromolithographic plates. Collated, complete. Undated, dated from copies held by the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford Libraries. A pleasing selection of George Routledge & Sons' "Shilling Toy Books". The series presents an exciting range of children's tales, illustrated by eminent illustrators, such as Walter Crane, Harrison Weir and Frederick William Keyl, and printed in colour by the Leighton Brothers, Dalziel Brothers and Kronheim & Co. In the publisher's original coloured soft covers. Contemporary signature to the front cover of Sleeping Beauty and to the first pages of History of Joseph and The Three Bears. Externally, generally smart and good examples for their age. All texts are affected by shelf wear, specifically a number of tears and some small chips to the edges, most notably to the spines, leaving the bindings fragile and causing vulnerability to the covers. The covers of English History and Farm Yard Alphabet are especially delicate. Also visible discolouration and spotting to all wraps. Internally, delicately bound, particularly to the covers. Pages spotted and aged throughout. Good Only. H. S. Marks; J. D. Watson; H. Weir; F. Keyl; Walter Crane; E. G. D.; Dalziel Brothers; Kronheim & Co.; Leighton Brothers; Vincent Brooks (illustrator). book.…

Mapas. …
