Paperback. Zustand: Good. Right away, the book has a strong opening as it begins with a scene of a young man trying to relax after a stressful trip from the United States to Vietnam. This book is a personal memoir by author Kenneth A. Luikart, of a boy growing to manhood in one short year. He paints descriptive scenes that are crucial to the success of his story. His verbal description of sensory details, smells, sounds, and feelings add realism to the story and give the reader a sense of being with him in his journey. Down From The Mountains The Uncomfortable Zone affords the reader a chance to step into the Vietnam war and look at the situation our troops were placed in by political leaders from all parties involved. Every page provides a glimpse of turmoil and uncertainty young men faced upon graduation from High School in the late 1960's. It follows the path of a young adult form the hills of West Virginia to the unabridged realities of Vietnam. From the harsh realities of basic training, to the joy and happiness Vietnamese children brought the unit at Christmas, this story provides a young man's recollections of war. This book is filled with humor, and tragedy, concerning war waged to stop Communist aggression.…

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - This book is a unique look at almost a half century of Scouting. Formerly called Boy Scouts of America, the new name is all inclusive Scouts of America. I started this Troop in 1977 and continue to serve as the Scouting Coordinator for our Church. A lot of changes occurred since 1977, we now have 105 Eagle Scouts, and are currently very active in the community. The book is dedicated to Ralph Anderson one of my favorite Eagle Scouts who passed away several years ago. Ken was born in 1948 in Newport News Virginia and was raised in Nitro West Virginia. After graduation and one year of college, he joined the US Army. He was allowed to choose a career field, he chose Combat Order of Battle Analyst, 96B20 MOS. He attended the US Army Intelligence School at Fort Holabird, Baltimore Maryland. Immediately after graduation he was given orders for Vietnam and arrived in country August 17, 1968. After his second tour he returned home and served as an instructor for the USAINTS Order of Battle School at Fort Holabird, Maryland. He married in 1971 to Sandra Bardell and attended Lake City Forest Ranger School in Lake City Florida. He became a Forest Research Technician with Union Camp from 1973 to 1987. In 1975 he joined the Air National Guard and was awarded a Direct Commission in 1979 as an Air Intelligence Officer. Later he has served as vice Commander to the Support Group. In 1977 he helped organize and establish Boy Scout Troop 665 in Rincon, Georgia. He was the Troop's Scoutmaster from 1977 to 2014, and still works with the troop. He has 48 years experience with the Boy Scouts of America.…
