A 1st edition (Morrow on the title page and spine) of a Sidney Griff mystery from the mid 1930s, with Gardner writing under the pen name of Carleton Kendrake. Black boards with red lettering and decoration, and black lettering on a red background. Light to moderate wear at the edges. The lettering and decoration are clean. The front and rear hinges are broken with the webbing showing - the front being more fragile. The RFEP has been removed. Blue ink stamps (Samuel Skolsky Commercial Stationary & Book Store Inc) on the front paste down and FFEP. The internals are clean. A fair copy of a hard to find early Gardner title.
