Many people and societies have given there time and knowledge to this book. There are some rough page ends. The cover is worn and has a few stains on it and faded along the spine edges.

Lodge, 13 further b/w plates, of which 10 after photographs by Mr Smith Whiting, and 3 after paintings by Lodge (Cirl Bunting, Peregrine Falcon, and Tufted Duck) all in accordance with the list of plates; large coloured fold-out map. Very good in publisher's original blue cloth binding with gilt lettering, a little rubbed and worn, spine slightly darker. Contents clean and tight, original dark brown end papers, minimal spotting, a few pages slightly scruffy at fore-edge where hurriedly opened.
