Der Autor Friedrich Kellner (1885-1970) war bereits früh ein entschiedener Gegner der Nationalsozialisten. 1933 wurde er Geschäftsstellenleiter des Amtsgerichts in Laubach (Oberhessen) und setzte dort seine offene Kritik am Regime fort. Mehrfach wurde er bedroht - nur mit Glück entging er einer beabsichtigten Einweisung in ein KZ. Nach dem Krieg war Kellner Stadtrat in Laubach.
