The exhibit ran in Fairfield from September 12-December 13, 2025 Fairfield University Art Museum Walsh Gallery "Stit…ching Time" features 12 quilts created by men who are incarcerated in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola Prison. The roots of this project reach back to 1997 at the Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola Prison), where inmate hospice volunteers began quilting to raise funds for dying prisoners. Initiated in 1978, Prison Arts is one of the longest running projects of its kind in the United States. They work inside Connecticut prisons to positively change the lives of the incarcerated and the prison environment by encouraging unique, personal, and evolving artistic pursuits. "The title Give Me Life comes from this quote from Prison Art Project alumni Renee Peterson: "White. Or Grey. Boring. Depressing. Very cold, all the time. It was awful. Small. It made me feel small sometimes. But, art makes me feel like a big person again. It gave me life.".
