In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. German War Art 1939-1945 Edited by William P. Yenne with an introduction by Dr Keith W. Dills Published by Bison Books, USA., 1983. Hard covers with illustrated dust jacket, size 28.5 x 22.5 cms., 160 pages, numerous colour and some mono reproductions of sele…cted German war art of the period. Hitler ordered that a group of specially selected artists be established to develop a pictorial record of the war in paintings and drawings. It was intended that after Germany won the war the work would be exhibited as a major part of the permanent record of the Thousand Year Reich. When Germany instead lost the war, this vast art collection was confiscated by the U.S. Army and placed in storage. While some of these works found their way into public view over the years, the great majority remained in storage, most of them remaining classified until 1978. This book exhibits many of the items in this vast art collection together with a commentary from some of the actual artists. The book is in very good condition throughout. A01.1178.
