[vi] (no half-title), xx, 296pp. The author of this book is not stated on the title-page but we understand it to be Robert Keith (1681-1757), a Scottish Episcopal bishop and historian. In this book he details the Bishops of the…Sees of Scotland up to the year 1688. These include St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Dunkeld, Aberdeen, Moray, Brechin, Dunblane, Ross, Caithness, Glasgow, and the Isles. There is also an alphabetical Table of the parishes in Scotland, with the names of the shire, etc. At the end of the book is An Account of all the religious Houses that were in Scotland at the time of the Reformation, with its own title-page. The book is bound in later (probably mid to late 20th century) dark blue cloth covered boards with a brown leather spine and gold titling on a leather label on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with light shelf wear to the boards and some damp marking on up to about 2" of the fore edge of the front board and about 3/4" of the fore edge of the rear board. There is a dark stain on the top of the spine and a smaller stain just above the title label. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few expected scattered small marks and a larger stain near the fore edge of pages 62 to 66. The first and last few pages are foxed, including the title-page. The title-page also has some soiling and traces of old erased names near the top edge and there is a crease running down most of the page near the spine edge.
