ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 2009). 2009 1st edition. 8vo (158 x 242mm). Ppx,214. Not illustrated. Black boards, spine titled in gilt. Very good in slightly used dust-wrapper. Keith Arthur, well-known angling presenter on television and radio, shares his recollections of a lifetime of fishing. "Keith Arthur was born in Holloway, North London, in 1946. He started fishing at an early age and it has remained his passion ever since. Keith worked in the fishing tackle industry for 20 years before becoming the resident expert on Sky Sports' Tight Lines angling programme in 1995. He accepted the role of Tight Lines presenter in 2004 and continues this role to date. Since 1999 Keith has also presented Fisherman's Blues, the UK's only fishing show on national radio on talkSPORT. Keith has written several specialist angling titles since 1980 and has produced his own column in Angling Times since 1990. He has fished in many countries for a wide variety of species of fish. Now living with his wife Susan close to his beloved River Thames, Keith still spends as much of his time as possible loafing in the countryside and this is the subject of his much anticipated first book. Fishing: The Best Excuse for Loafing in the Countryside is Keith's angling memoirs and is jam-packed full of his memories and tales of his angling career and childhood memories. Every angler that ever cast a line has an idyll. Whether that is casting for wild trout in a pristine Irish stream, waiting for the attack of a giant blue marlin in the Indian Ocean or catching gudgeon from a river in an English town centre, they will be lost in the moment. Keith Arthur describes that 'being lost' under the general heading of loafing in the countryside and in this book he describes how he has loafed through better than half-a-century since growing up in North London and being adopted as a television and radio presenter. From the mysteries of early captures through to battles with giant sharks this book follows him through some glorious and, occasionally, hilarious times. If you are an angler you will recognise yourself somewhere in these pages. If you are not, then maybe you will want to be after reading them." Chapters include:- Finsbury Park; Hampstead; The River Lea Navigation; The River Lea; The Tamesis; Teddy and the big cod; The Royalty; Blenheim Palace; The Kentish Stour; The Kentish Stour II; The birth of the blockend; The Terrapins; Alec's hat and other adventures; Great Ouse tales; Eyeballs in the sky; Irish adventures; On the fly; Paradise found; Big fish, blue water; Under African skies; Glossary of terms. .…

The chosen cast presents seventeen facets of a story which, like a plant, is in continuous growth. others have fair claims to be included, but I shall not argue about that, no, I shall peacefully agree with every critic who says i ought to have left out A and brought in B. The names Lacharme, Lambert, Lammerts, De Ruiter, Swim, Mallerin, Lens and Cant roll out like a litany in which I, as a man with written words to cry on the market place, scent another book."--Jack Harkness ; FINE/FINE. In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: g- to vg. First edition. Large quarto (11 1/4 x 9"). viii, 203-578pp (Vol. 1); xxvi, 350pp (Vol. 2). Later full tan cloth, with gold lettering to spines. Today, the Bodleian Library has the largest known collection of Sanskrit manuscripts outside the Indian subcontinent numbering some 11,000 items in all. The first catalogue (in two volumes + 1 supplement) of their collection was published between 1864 and 1909. The first volume was intended to be executed by Professor F. Max Müller in 1855, but his engagements did not allow him to complete it. The task was therefore attributed to Theodor Aufrecht who completed the first volume in 1864. A supplement of Professor Aufrecht's first volume was published in 1909, but is not featured in this offer. The first volume contains Vatsyayana's Kamasutra; the Yoga sutras of Patanjali; the Romaka Siddhanta (an Indian astronomical treatise), etc. Compiled by Arthur Keith, the catalogue's second volume is divided into two parts, and contains manuscripts of Vedic, and non-Vedic litterature. Both volumes have an extensive index of the authors and their relatives; scribes and their relatives and patrons; former owners; works; historical names; and places. Bindings partly soiled and darkened. Ex-library copy, with bookplate on inside of each front cover, stamp at upper and lower paper edges, and reference number on inside of each back cover. Text of first volume in Latin. Second volume in English. Bindings in overall good-, interior in good+ to very good condition.…
