Prabhjot has been bestowed with many national and international awards and honours for her writings, that includes the Padma Shri (1967), Sahitya Academy Award (1965), the Rajya Kavi (Poet Laureate) of Punjab, and was also nominated as a member of the Punjab Legislative Council (1966). Besides these, in 1968 she was honoured with the coveted award of 'La Rose de France' for her collection of poetry titled 'Plateau' which was published in French, a rare honour indeed. Her works have been translated into many foreign languages including Persian, Russian, English, Italian and Romanian in addition to French. She has represented India in many conferences in India and abroad and was designated as a member of the National Commission of UNESCO.

She was decorated with La Rose De France, the highest literary honor in France. She remains so far, the first Asian to have achieved this distinction. In 1974, World Poetry Intercontinental conferred the most distinguished Order of Poetry upon her while in 1975, Phillipines crowned her with the title Woman of the Year. She was given Golden Laurel leaves by the President of Phillipines. This was done by B.D. Jatti, the Vice President of India in an investiture ceremony. Along with being Shiromani Sahitkar awardee, Prabhjot Kaur is also the state poetess of Punjab. She is a founding member of the Punjabi Academy, Delhi, and as also a proud recipient of honor from this premier literary organization. She remained the Convener of Punjabi language and Executive Member of Sahitya Akademi Delhi from 1978 to 1988. Her poetry stands translated into English, French, Bulgarian, Romanian, Italian, Danish, Greek, German and several other foreign languages.
