Thus, if desired, the student, upon the first reading, may make reference only to the answer, and come back to the discussion for more intensified study at a later date. In the preparation of this Sixth Edition a painstaking effort was made to present questions in precisely the same order as appears in the most recent FCC Study Guide. Material that appeared in the Addendum of previous editions has been brought up and inserted in its appropriate elements. Thus, the Sixth Edition represents the very latest presentation of questions and answers for radio operators' license examinations. JAY KAUFMAN - ASSOCIATION COPY HAND-INSCRIBED TO LORD VIVIAN - HIGHLOWBROW AND OTHER SKETCHES. - An exceptional association copy, warmly inscribed by the author to Anthony Crespigny Claude Vivian, 5th Baron Vivian, the celebrated Brit…ish impresario, restaurateur and society figure. The lengthy presentation inscription, written in London during the Coronation year of 1953, reads: "My Dear Lord Vivian, Please accept this my poor work. With it my rich gratitude for so many richer moments. For you, a highlowbrow (see page 12), I wish it were better. In this year of the Coronation, 1953, London. S. Jay Kaufman." - Kaufman has additionally marked page 12, directing Lord Vivian to the humorous definition of a "highlowbrow", creating an amusing and highly personal exchange between author and recipient. The precise significance of the reference has been lost with time, making this a fascinating association copy. - Lord Vivian later became one of Britain's best-known social figures and entered newspaper headlines in 1954 following the widely publicised Mavis Wheeler shooting case, an episode that made him one of the most recognisable members of London's post-war social scene. - CONDITION & DESCRIPTION: The original dustwrapper is present and now protected within a removable archival sleeve. The front panel features an attractive illustration by the celebrated Cuban artist, political satirist and illustrator Conrado Walter Massaguer. Two publisher's prices appear on the inner flap, with the original $1.50 struck through by the publisher and $1.75 printed beneath. The dustwrapper has a few small chips at the head and foot of the spine, several short closed tears and light overall soiling consistent with age. Original red cloth boards with bright gilt lettering to the spine and upper board remain clean and firmly bound. The book contains 171 pages, all clean and tightly bound with rough-cut fore-edges. Apart from the author's inscription and his contemporary ink reference on page 12, there are no ownership marks.
