The author is attempting to demonstrate that religions around the world, shared core belief with Christianity from a time before the Jewish faith. Hence he had a "Christiano-centric" interpretation of primitive American mythology and religious customs. 120 pages + 2 plates. 210 x 130 mm (8¼ x 5 inches).

Alcune antiche segnature a margine di qualche paragrafo, a china, e poche annotazioni a lapis, più recenti. Al verso dell'occhietto pi…ccola pecetta con data manoscritta e sul fronte firma di proprietà a matita. Curioso studio comparatistico sulle tradizioni religiose dei popoli precolombiani, condotto sulla base di un'impostazione di esegesi biblica cattolica. L'autore ipotizza un'origine asiatica dei Toltechi, e un precedente contatto con le tradizioni ebraiche e protocristiane che sarebbe all'origine di similitudini riscontrabili tra i costumi religiosi dei popoli americani e i riti europei e cristiani. La citazione di Joseph De Maistre posta sul frontespizio funge da spunto per l'indagine: «Les voyageurs modernes ont trouvé en Amérique: les vestales, le feu nouveau, la circoncision, le baptême, la confession, et enfin la présence réelle, sous les espèces du pain et du vin». Tra i temi della ricerca: i miti del diluvio e della dispersione dei popoli (Babele), il battesimo, la confessione dei peccati in Perù e Messico, il matrimonio presso gli Aztechi, la comunione, le feste dei morti, le istituzioni sacerdotali e monastiche. Accompagnano lo studio una grande «Carte de l'Est de l'Asie et du Nord-Ouest de l'Amerique à l'époque de la migration des Toltèques vers le milieu du sixième siècle de l'ere chrétienne» e un'affascinante tavola, colorata a mano, che mette a confronto la torre di Babele con i teocalli mesoamericani e presenta alcune immagini da manoscritti aztechi e altre fonti antiche. L'opera conobbe una seconda edizione (Lovanio 1845); Kastner pubblicò anche un simile studio che metteva a confronto le Scritture con le tradizioni dell'India. Buon esemplare, seppur in brossura muta, completo e a pieni margini, in barbe e con testimoni. Alcune antiche segnature a margine di qualche paragrafo, a china, e poche annotazioni a lapis, più recenti. Al verso dell'occhietto piccola pecetta con data manoscritta e sul fronte firma di proprietà a matita.
