In den WarenkorbZustand: New. 140, 50+ col illus. . HB. NEW. . Text Danish/English. This work presents an updated catalogue of the Lepidoptera found in the Faroe Islands. It includes 170 species recorded between 1781 and the end of year 2023. For each species all relevant literature is listed, details of the first record are given, and the status as either resident, migrant or introduced (and perhaps naturalised) is stated. The status of subspecies recorded from the Faroe Islands follows current literature. Details on biology are presented, which for most species includes only the time of occurrence of the adults. Where relevant, additional remarks are made.Species, which are listed from the Faroe Islands in earlier literature due to misidentification or other errors, are discussed, and that is also the case for unconfirmed records, based on undocumented 'sightings'.In the introductory chapters, we briefly deal with geology and geography, climate and nature, the history of lepidopterology in the Faroe Islands, the origin of the Faroe Islands Lepidoptera, variation and biology of Faroese Lepidoptera. Distribution maps are presented for resident, migrant and introduced species. All illustrated specimens are from the Faroe Islands. The reference list includes all publications on Faroese Lepidoptera that we know of. A checklist with Faroese names of Lepidoptera and an index to names of Lepidoptera in the book is given. In den WarenkorbZustand: New. 939, col + b/w photos, line drawings, distribution maps. 260x190mm. HB. NEW. . Handbook to the 269 species of Gelechiidae moths occurring in NW Europe, including the British Isles. This book is a monographic treatment of all the 269 species of the Gelechiidae, a family of Microlepidoptera, known to be present in North-West Europe. The area covered comprises the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries, the Netherlands, the British Isles, the northern part of Poland and the northern part of Germany. All species are illustrated in colour, and structural details including genitalia are shown to facilitate identification. There are numerous photographs documenting the early stages and the moths' natural resting positions. To give accurate descriptions and present the species distribution, the authors have examined thousands of specimens in museums and private collections and the distribution of each species is mapped. Gelechiid moths are highly specific in their choice of habitat and foodplants and are especially sensitive to the ongoing destruction of their natural habitats. The present treatment gives important information for conservationists working to save remaining unspoilt areas. One species new to science is described in the book. [9788299692335].
